Knowing the transition can be tough on both the pet and owner, we are here to help every step of the way. ![]() For any of our pets, we will make it happen.Īt last, homeless no more! While we are thrilled our pets have finally found the forever home they deserve, we are always on standby if adopters need help with training, medical advice, etc. Sometimes, one special dog may need a trip to Cooper Creek Park and a stop at Starbucks for a puppuccino or one special cat may need to go in a stroller ride outside. We have expert trainers and behaviorists on staff to oversee the rehabilitation and confidence building for animals in need. We strive to enrich their lives through playgroups, socializing, food puzzles and games, peanut butter kongs, and more. While they are in our care, our job is to offer love and care and to guide them on their journey of healing. Others may have experienced emotional or physical harm. Some of our pets have experienced loss or suffered from illnesses. Being in this environment, whether for a short or extended time, can be stressful to our animals. No matter how nice a shelter is, it doesn’t compare to a home. Our volunteers go above and beyond for each one of our animals providing them with the quality care and love they deserve. Going through in depth training, volunteers help out with tasks such as transporting animals, dog walking, cat socialization, dog bathing, and clinic assistance allowing us to save more lives. Volunteers are the heart of Paws Humane Society dedicating their time and energy to helping homeless pets. There are more families interested in pet adoption than there are pets available what a wonderful problem to have! Quite the opposite of the pet overpopulation problem we have in the South, many animal shelters in states such as New York, Pennsylvania and more are in need of animals. Once an animal is medically cleared and ready to find a forever family, often times, instead of staying local, our animals are accepted into our Transport program. ![]() Our loving foster families, also known as in-home heroes, welcome animals into their homes and give them the love and care they need to become ready for adoption. Some adult pets need time to heal from an illness or injury while others may be scared and nervous and just need time to build confidence and acclimate to living in a home environment. All puppies and kittens need time to grow before being spayed or neutered and available for adoption. Often times, Paws Humane Society receives puppies and kittens in our care, as young as just a few days old. If a pet needs more specialized care, we will work with our local veterinarian partners to ensure each pet receives the nurturing treatment and rehabilitation needed to live a long happy life. After arrival, our Veterinary Clinic is every shelter pet’s first stop to receive services such as spay/neuter surgery, microchips, heartworm treatment and more. Our low cost high-quality spay/neuter and wellness Veterinary Clinic practices shelter medicine to provide every animal with the upmost medical care, regardless of his/her condition. There is no time limit for an animal in our care and we provide them with quality care for the entirety of their stay. As a limited admissions shelter, we take in animals from Columbus Animal Care and Control, pets who have been surrendered by their owner, and other emergency situations. Every day, we care for more than 100 animals looking to have their lives changed forever. Paws Humane Society is a safe haven for homeless dogs, cats and critters.
